Symptoms are interference with child’s normal developmentally appropriate academic, social, and behavioral performances. They fail to complete the task, are inattentive and seems as they don’t listen, have difficulties in organizing task and activities, inpatient and interrupting others, and are lost and forget easily. In most cases, untreated child engage in dangerous activities without any consideration for consequences such as playing rough or using drug (self-medicating themselves) in a later age.

Clinician perspective
Among available criterion for children behavioral and emotional difficulties, ADHD/ADD diagnosis is the most misdiagnosed and over medicated condition. In many cases prescribed psychotropic medication such as Ritalin or other existing medication (which in reality is nothing but street drug/Speed) is either does not work or even if it has some calming effect the harmful side-effect of psychotropic medication can be devastating like stunning the child growth and creating a dependency like any other street drug will; and from that point it is a down ward spiral for the child. For one thing, children are in constant state of developmental change and any diagnosis ought to be done in most thoughtful manner and definitely has to be involved accurate psychological testing. In majority of cases these children are labeled as a “trouble child”.

One of the common child response to therapist as whether they know why they are in therapy is that, “my mom and my teacher want to know what is wrong with me because I get in trouble all the time”. In OCFC the emphasize is on accurate diagnosis, working as a team member with child’s medical doctor-teacher-family, and utilizing scientific approach in order to implement preferred “Medication-Free” treatment.
